finished - Farm Life baby quilt

I have a couple finished baby quilts to share with you, here is the first. 

I had a lot of fun making this quilt.  It is made from one layer cake (plus some coordinating prints) and was simple to cut out and assemble.  I love and highly recommend the pattern: Crackle by Aneela Hoey.

rainy days

We've had some rainy days over here.  I don't mind rain on a Monday.  I'm usually feeling a little tired from the weekend, and it is nice to have an excuse to stay in.

I've been working on the new quilt I shared with you in my last post.  It is such a fun little project.  The quilting went quickly, and I decided to check out my Art Gallery stash for the binding.  They were kind enough to send me some half yard cuts from Oval Elements and Pure Elements a while back.  They are such lovely fabrics, I can't get enough them. 

I ended up going for the pink dots for the binding, a perfect match wouldn't you say?

It is raining again today, so I think I'll spend a little time on the couch sewing the binding down.  You know how much I love that part.

Last is a picture from yesterday's rainy morning.  Finley is too busy to snuggle much anymore, so I definitely cherish these rare moments when she does.

Nutkin

I finished up my Nutkin socks this morning.  This is my fourth pair of the year!  I hope you don't get sick of seeing my knit socks, because I'm not even close to being over my current obsession.  Plus, I live in a place where it is cold and snowy for approximately 6 months of the year, so I don't think I'll ever have enough warm socks!

This was a fun and easy knit.  I used Smooshy by Dream in Color yarn in Flamingo Pink.  I'm really into coral/pink, perfect for spring right?  More information here.

PS - I finished up my Crackle quilt a couple weeks ago, for all of you who have asked.  Pictures coming soon!  We had a crazy snowstorm this week, and I couldn't bear to take anymore snowy quilt pictures. :)

why I don't sew often

 I just had to snap some pictures this morning while I was sewing.  Lately I've mentioned how Finley has been a busy little girl and that sewing has been pretty hard to manage.  Now I have some funny pictures to prove it. :)

While I was cutting these pretty strips for binding, Finley was having a little fun on her own.

I'm pretty sure I got up at least 5 or 6 times during the 20 minutes it took me to make this binding.  Then Eli decided to join in the fun.  What started out as a simple binding picture turned into this:

Oh, these kids.  As crazy as things can get, they sure make life fun.  I'm thankful.

I somehow managed to get my binding sewn on, can you believe it?  Can't wait to finish this up!  I'm looking forward to some quality couch time with this little quilt.

ps - I was happy to see how many of you commented on my last post and said you enjoy handsewing your bindings down just as much as I do.  Glad to hear it is not just me. ;) 

quilting the crackle quilt

Oh, today was a nice, crafty day.  It is spring break in these parts, and today turned out to be one of those rare days when the kiddos all napped at the same time.  Well, 2 napped while the oldest read books in his bed for quiet time.  And I sat at my machine for awhile. 

This morning I pulled out this quilt top, batting, and a couple coordinating prints.  I sewed the back, got everything ironed and ready to go.  Then during naptime, I basted and quilted.  Oh, it was wonderful.  I really enjoy this kind of quilting.  Man, I just really enjoyed sewing today in general.

Hopefully I'll get to work on the binding soon, I am thinking that the tiny red dot will be perfect.  I can't wait to sit down on the couch to handsew the binding down.  That is my favorite part. :)

monkey!

 

I finished up my Monkey socks last night.  They are my most favorite item I've knit so far!

 

It is a quick and easy pattern, and after a few repeats, I had it memorized.  Made for some nice, (almost) mindless knitting.  You can bet you'll be seeing this pattern again!  I love it.  Ravelled here.

 

We've had a wonderful week.  The weather has been in the 70's and sunny everyday, so we've been spending tons of time outside.  I took these cute pictures this past weekend.  We took the kids fishing and spent the day at our hunting camp.  In this first picture, they are chowing down on the white bread that we use to catch catfish.  We only eat wheat at home, so they love to eat the "fish bread" everytime we fish.  They crack me up.

Have a nice weekend!  We are heading out to see Hunger Games tomorrow.

Wayyy too excited about that.
